Scindia urges patience in the Go First case, emphasizes the need for the judicial process

On Tuesday, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized the need for patience and adherence to the judicial process in the case of Go First, a budget airline facing financial difficulties due to engine supply issues.

Scindia stated that the Indian government is assisting the airline in every possible manner to resolve the issue and is taking it up with relevant stakeholders. However, he acknowledged that the operational bottleneck has significantly impacted Go First’s financial position and led the airline to file for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings.

The minister advised waiting for the judicial process to take its course and expressed regret at the situation. Scindia also revealed that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a notice to the airline on the sudden suspension of flights.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of Go First providing alternative travel arrangements for affected passengers to minimize inconvenience.

Go First, formerly known as GoAir, has been struggling financially due to the supply chain issue concerning engines for its Airbus A320neo aircraft. Someone has forced the airline to cancel flights, including those scheduled for May 3 and 4.

As a result, the airline’s management filed an application for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings with the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to address its financial troubles.

While the NCLT has yet to make a decision on the application, Scindia’s statement reminds us that the government is committed to supporting the airline through this difficult period and ensuring that it protects the rights of affected passengers.
