SpiceJet Aims to Reactivate Four Grounded Aircraft by June 15 for Targeted Return
In a recent press release, budget carrier SpiceJet revealed its plans to reintroduce four of its grounded aircraft by June 15. This includes two Boeing 737s and two Q400s. Initially, the company had announced its intention to bring back a total of 25 grounded aircraft into service by the same date.
As the company approached its 18th anniversary, it also unveiled an exciting promotion for customers. SpiceJet announced a special sale on one-way domestic fares, with prices starting at Rs 1,818 for select routes like Bengaluru-Goa and Mumbai-Goa. The airline will accept bookings for this sale from May 23 to May 28, 2023.
Customers can plan their travel between July 1, 2023, and March 30, 2024, to avail of the discounted fares. SpiceJet shared these details while presenting their limited-time offer.

SpiceJet recently announced that it has commenced the process of revitalizing its grounded fleet. The airline has utilized the funds amounting to USD 50 million received through the government’s Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS), in addition to internal cash accruals. This announcement was made earlier this month.
“We would like to address any speculations that may have emerged following the filing made by another airline,” stated a spokesperson, making a clear reference to Go First’s insolvency.
The airline affirmed its unwavering commitment to its operations and confirmed that it is actively engaging in discussions with investors to secure funding.
“We want to emphasize that there is absolutely no intention of filing for insolvency. Any rumors suggesting otherwise are entirely unfounded. Our primary focus is on rejuvenating our grounded fleet and reintroducing more aircraft into service. We have already commenced work in this direction, utilizing the USD 50 million ECLGS funds as well as our own financial resources,” stated Ajay Singh, Chairman, and Managing Director of SpiceJet.
