Vistara, India’s leading full-service carrier, has been named the winner of the ch-aviation Asia’s 3rd Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award 2023. This marks the second consecutive year that Vistara has been recognized for its commitment to maintaining a young, modern, and efficient fleet of aircraft. The award acknowledges the airline’s efforts in minimizing the environmental impact and reducing CO2 emissions.

Vinod Kannan, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara, said, “We are elated to win ch-aviation Asia’s 3rd Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award, the second time in a row. At Vistara, we take pride in maintaining a young and modern fleet of aircraft equipped with fuel-efficient engines that contribute significantly to lowering CO2 emissions. This award is a testament to our efforts in minimizing the environmental impact and we are grateful to ch-aviation for this recognition.”

The award is an incentive for Vistara to continue its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. With an average aircraft age of 3.3 years, Vistara’s current fleet of A320NEO, A321NEO, and B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft is powered by cutting-edge technologies and the most advanced systems that result in a reduction in engine noise as well as nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide emissions. The airline has taken several steps to reduce its environmental impact and achieve carbon neutrality.

Vistara has digitalized several processes to reduce the use of paper thereby managing the weight of an aircraft and saving fuel. The airline has also adopted an E-tech logbook solution to go paperless in its operations. It has also introduced E-Tugs or Electric Power Tuggers for day-to-day maintenance tasks, using alternatives to APU (auxiliary power units) at airports. Furthermore, the airline has partnered with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Petroleum to work on research, development, and deployment of sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) to further reduce its carbon footprint.

Thomas Jaeger, the CEO of ch-aviation, said, “ch-aviation’s Youngest Fleet Award recognizes airlines dedicated to keeping their fleet young and using new generation aircraft. This subject is extremely important to all of us in the industry and the whole world because CO2 emissions are a global issue affecting us all. We, at ch-aviation, believe it is critical to recognize those airlines that truly work hard toward fixing this problem by keeping their fleets young because they’re the ones that make a difference. This award acknowledges their efforts and is an incentive to keep up the good work.”

The award is a testament to Vistara’s commitment to sustainability, and the airline is proud to be recognized for its efforts. Vistara is determined to continue its journey toward reducing its carbon footprint and achieving carbon neutrality.
