Indian Navy to buy 12 Upgraded Dornier Aircraft

Today, a high profile meeting of Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Defence Minister Arun Jaitley with Defence Secretary, the Chiefs of all three services, DRDO Chief and other senior officials has cleared the projects worth Rs 80,000 Crores was cleared.
In this project Six submarines will be made indigenously and over 8,000 Israeli anti-tank guided missiles and 12 upgraded Dornier surveillance aircraft will be purchased.
The Indian Navy was desperately waiting for up-gradation since long . This move will enhance the capability of Indian Navy.
The best part is Instead of purchasing from Outside submarines and aircraft will be built in India. The Dornier Aircraft with enhanced sensors will also be bought from the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. The cost of the aircraft is estimated Rs 1,850 crore i.e. Rs 154 crore per aircraft.
The decision to manufacture the submarines in India is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ pitch.
During a recent conference of top commanders of the indian armed forces, Mr. Arun Jaitley had said that the process of military acquisitions, which had slowed down due to “some controversies”, will be speeded up with at least one meeting per month of DAC.
With this move you can expect that jobs for pilots should definitely come in coming year. It will take some time but will definitely come.
