ILS at Kanpur Airport
The Airport Authority of India has decided to install the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at Chakeri Airport ,Kanpur .It is going to help the pilots in landing in bad weather conditions. The work has been started on friday and going to be completed in a month. 2 crore rupees is going to be invested on this system.Right now only one airlines ” Air India” is operating from Chakeri Airport.

There is a huge need for an airport and flights to and fro from Kanpur to all the major cities in India…

The installation process of CAT-1 ILS was initiated in December last year but it is still not operational. The installation was completed in the last week of July 2010, and testing/calibration was being done. As per newspaper reports, due to a negligence of ILS testing team, a part of the equipment got faulty and testing has been postponed till end of September 2010. As a result Indigo had to defer commencement of its services from Kanpur. The story remains the same, the lone 42 seater AI flight(common to Kanpur and Allahabad) is not able to land in Kanpur in the rainy weather this year too.
